Bathing and grooming assistance

One of the primary services Hygea Homecare offers is bathing and grooming assistance. For individuals who may find it challenging to maintain their hygiene due to physical limitations or health conditions, caregivers provide support with showering, bathing, and washing hair.

Personal grooming tasks such as brushing teeth, shaving, or other hygiene-related activities are also part of this care. Proper hygiene is vital for health and well-being; caregivers ensure clients are comfortable and safe.

Help with mobility

Mobility assistance is another essential aspect of personal care provided by Hygea Homecare. This involves helping clients move around their homes safely, reducing the risk of falls and injuries.

Whether it’s assistance with walking, transferring from bed to a chair, or moving up and down stairs, caregivers are trained to provide support while ensuring the client’s comfort and safety.

What do our carers do when providing personal care?

Our carers can help with all types of care duties.

Companionship as part of your care

Beyond the physical tasks, companionship and emotional support are significant components of personal care. Loneliness and social isolation can negatively impact mental health, particularly among elderly or homebound individuals.

Carers provide companionship through conversation, activities, and emotional support, fostering a sense of connection and enhancing the client’s overall quality of life.

Monitoring your loved ones care 24/7

As part of the personal care provided, we provide families with CareCircle, a web-based platform that lets you monitor the care being provided.

One key advantage is using CareCircle, a digital platform that offers real-time access to a loved one’s care plan and detailed visit records. This technology ensures that families are consistently updated on the care their loved ones receive, enhancing transparency and communication.

With CareCircle, you can easily track care activities, monitor progress, and stay informed about any changes or updates in the care plan. This digital access provides peace of mind and enables families to be actively involved in their loved one’s care, fostering a collaborative approach to managing dementia and ensuring that their needs are met effectively.

FAQ's

Care can be confusing, and sometimes challenging to talk about. We’ve answered some common questions below.

It is essential that we ensure that all provisions are in place before care starts, we strive to complete the assessment, formulate a care plan, and gather GP summaries as quickly as possible. Sometimes in urgent cases we can turn this around within 24-48 hours, but can take up to 5 days from the assessment.

These are very rare occurrences, but when they do happen, management are are standby. Our systems are monitored around the clock, and we can immobilise another carer or other managers to cover the call. So your loved ones never go without there calls.

Yes. Every carer we work with must have a good level of written and spoken English.

If you’d prefer a carer who also speaks a second language, simply let us know.

During the initial assessment our team also carry out a environmental assessment, this will look into whether any equipment or aids are recommended to carry out care safely. We will make referrals to the relevant organisations to help facilitate any required aids.

Paying for care is managed through a direct debit directly with the client/family. If you are receiving funding through other means such as social services in full or part, you will need to contact your social worker to arrange provisions of care under Hygea Homecare.

If you or a family member is living with an on-going health condition, it is worth applying for NHS Continuing Healthcare too. If you meet the criteria, this form of funding will cover every penny of your care costs. However, bear in mind that this funding is reserved for complex conditions which may fall out of the scope of what a self-employed carer can provide.
