Understanding Home Care Services
Home care services are not one-size-fits-all. They are designed to provide personalised assistance and support to individuals who need help with daily activities but prefer to stay in their homes rather than move to a care home. These services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Hygea provides trained professionals such as care assistants and offers a range of support, including bathing, dressing, meal preparation, medication management, and light housekeeping. Before receiving these services, a needs assessment is usually conducted to determine the level of support required, ensuring that the care provided is of the highest standard.
In addition to assisting with daily activities, it may also involve making necessary adaptations to the home environment to ensure the safety and well-being of the individual. It’s important to note that these services are regulated by organisations like the Care Quality Commission, ensuring that high-quality care is consistently provided.

Monitoring your loved ones care 24/7
Hygea Homecare provides numerous benefits, including personalised, compassionate support tailored to individuals.
One key advantage is using CareCircle, a digital platform that offers real-time access to a loved one’s care plan and detailed visit records. This technology ensures that families are consistently updated on the care their loved ones receive, enhancing transparency and communication.
With CareCircle, you can easily track care activities, monitor progress, and stay informed about any changes or updates in the care plan. This digital access provides peace of mind and enables families to be actively involved in their loved one’s care, fostering a collaborative approach to managing dementia and ensuring that their needs are met effectively.

FAQ's
Care can be confusing, and sometimes challenging to talk about. We’ve answered some common questions below.
How quickly can care be arranged?
It is essential that we ensure that all provisions are in place before care starts, we strive to complete the assessment, formulate a care plan, and gather GP summaries as quickly as possible. Sometimes in urgent cases we can turn this around within 24-48 hours, but can take up to 5 days from the assessment.
What is a care assessment?
A comprehensive care assessment is designed to identify an individual's specific care needs and determine the support required to help them live comfortably and independently. This process is essential for those who may need assistance due to age, illness, disability, or other challenges that impact their ability to manage daily tasks. The assessment helps create a personalised care plan that addresses physical and emotional needs, ensuring individuals receive the appropriate support.
Will I need any special equipment or special aids?
During the initial assessment our team also carry out a environmental assessment, this will look into whether any equipment or aids are recommended to carry out care safely. We will make referrals to the relevant organisations to help facilitate any required aids.
Are your carers trained in stroke care?
Hygea Homecare provides specialised care for individuals recovering from or living with the effects of a stroke. Their caregivers are typically trained in stroke care, which includes understanding the physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges that stroke survivors may face. This training allows caregivers to assist with mobility, daily activities, and rehabilitation exercises and provide support for communication difficulties and emotional well-being.
Are your carers trained in dementia?
Our carers are throughly trained both on digital platforms, and practical workshops throughout their career. We also provide level 2 and level 3 in Advanced Dementia courses, to broaden the knowledge of dementia care practices.
What happens if the carer does not attend?
These are very rare occurrences, but when they do happen, management is on standby. Our systems are monitored around the clock, and we can immobilise another carer or other managers to cover the call. So your loved ones never go without their visit.
Are your carers English speaking?
Yes. Every carer we work with must have a good level of written and spoken English.
If you’d prefer a carer who also speaks a second language, simply let us know.
How do I pay for care?
Paying for care is managed through a direct debit directly with the client/family. If you are receiving funding through other means such as social services in full or part, you will need to contact your social worker to arrange provisions of care under Hygea Homecare.
If you or a family member is living with an on-going health condition, it is worth applying for NHS Continuing Healthcare too. If you meet the criteria, this form of funding will cover every penny of your care costs. However, bear in mind that this funding is reserved for complex conditions which may fall out of the scope of what a self-employed carer can provide.
